Synopsis – Skatin 66’
Based on Robby Love's roller skating adventure down Route 66’
Robby Love is a self centered, over indulgent and completely oblivious rock star who is about to find out the hard way that the world doesn’t revolve around him. Robby’s devil may care attitude is quickly shut down after a concert where he and his Love Girls are rounded up and brought in front of a newly enlightened judge who sentences Robby to a life altering experience in lieu of a jail sentence.
The judge sends Robby to a Children’s hospital in the city and the clueless Roller Rapper walks into a world he never expected. Thinking he would only see runny noses and broken arms, he comes to the startling realization of the actual world that begins his journey of self discovery.
When he first arrives at the hospital, the no nonsense, Nurse Watson immediate makes it clear to Robby that she isn’t in favor of what appears to be a publicity stunt. While she is lecturing him, an un-phased Robby’s eye catches the beautiful Nurse Wright who is engaged to the pompous and arrogant Dr. Peter Hamilton, the chief surgeon at the hospital.
In time, some of the children start warming up to Robby and he becomes best friends with a terminally ill boy named Johnny. Johnny has been orphaned since birth and has spent most of his short life in the long term care units in different hospitals. Robby spends most of his time playing and making Johnny laugh and giggle. This gives Johnny the freedom he deserves as a child and he no longer concentrates on his illness. Robby is like Johnny's big brother, the family he never had. Then it happens, a true miracle, after many tests, his doctor announces that Johnny is no longer ill. The only explanation they could find was that love saved little Johnny's life.
Then it happens, a true miracle, after many tests, his doctor announces that Johnny has had a miracle recovery. The only explanation they could find was that love saved little Johnny’s life. For the first time Johnny will have a home outside of a hospital.
After winning over the respect of the stern Nurse Wright and the other nurses and families of the children, Robby's last obstacle in achieving true happiness is to win the affection of the girl of his dreams, and steal her away from the obnoxious and stiffed nose Doctor Peter Hamilton.
